How difficult is it to install new memory in laptops?

I was specifically thinking about the Dell 600m.

I might get 256MB right now, then another 256 or 512 in two years.

Its pretty simple just make sure the computers off the battery is out unscrew the memory cover insert ram at 45 degree angle make sure system posts check bios and vioala upgrade is completed.
