Memory IC types...

I've been looking at a few of the supposedly D-9 memory lately, and the prices have dropped considerably since the last time I checked.

This G.Skill 2GB kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ), for example, is now only $180 AR. Does anyone know whether or not these are still D-9 sticks? I don't know any real way to check, and I think the list that has been posted many times before may be a little outdated...
Thanks!

Have you considered the crucial ballistix pc8000's?

they are $189 after rebate and use high bin D9GMH since they are the highest end modules produced by crucial (owned by micron).

Strangely enough, there are two Crucial Ballistix pc8000's listed on newegg, both 2x 1GB kits with the exact same timings. One is orange, and is $184 AR, and the other is other is black, with Ballistix "Tracer" on the heatsink. The black one is $220 after the same 50-dollar rebate. Strange...

Actually, the Ballistix tracer memory might be different in that it has LED's or something... So nevermind then. But $184 for PC8000 memory is very nice indeed.

yeah, the tracers are the ones with the nice lights which aren't completely necessary 🙂

the pc8000's are very nice especially for the price and guaranteed D9's

What makes them guaranteed D9's? Micron may own crucial, but of course crucial sells lower-priced sticks which must use less expensive IC's... Is there any way to tell for sure what IC a particular model of RAM has?
