I have a MSI 6195 K7Pro board with a 650 Athlon, 128M Micron PC100 Cas2 ECC memory. With ram prices being what they are I decided to grab another stick. So, I called and ordered the same product number, get home install it...ugh. When it tried to boot to ME it would just restart itself and go through post over and over. In 2000 pretty much a different error message every time. So, I removed my known good stick and tried the new one solo. Reset the BIOS and now the board diagostics give me memory detection errors. Back to my known good stick all is fine. I then tried the new stick in my Wife's Gateway *ntel 350...boots no prob, tested with Norton, all good.
After comparing the two sticks I noticed that my old one is made in the USA and has RAM chips on both sides. The new one is made in Malaysia and only has RAM chips on one side. They do have the same parts number and specs, ie. 128MB, Synch, 100mhz, CL2, ECC.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Some boards will not allow you to run single sided ram with ram that has chips on both sides, check with the manufacturer (motherboard) to see if it possible on your board.
