Hi all,

I 've recently placed an order for the gigabyte GA-8SG667 motherboard. Anandtech did a review of this board on the site and what's cool about it is that the board can run with 3 dimms of ddr400 from mushkin with no problems.

The question is, would it be a worthwhile investment for me to purchase mushkin ddr400? I don't plan on overclocking my processor at all. But i do like the fact that PC3200 DDR , provides a 3.2GB/second throughput of data and i won't mind having that. I've ordered pc2700 from crucial but i am really tempted to go with mushkin's pc3200. (I'm going to use the system for some heavy video work)

The other thing that is holding me back is that i've never really dealt with mushkin and i have no idea how they are with customer support or as to how stable their memory is when it's not being used in a system that's being overclocked. (From my own experiences at work, crucial is very stable and customer service is really good) I could wait for crucial to come out with its own version of ddr400 but i have no idea if it's going to be compatible with the board.

Finally, crucial has this thing on their website that goes against having heat spreaders on the memory because it supposedly can damage the memory, is there any truth to this?

Any one got any advice for me? If i change my order i have to do it before 11 est tomorrow.

Any help would be greatly appreicated,

Oh my processor is a p4 2.4b ghz. With the whole dual channel ddr coming on soon it also makes me wonder if i should invest in ddr400 ram.

I can't speak to the DDR memory (yet), but I have been using Mushkin Rev 3 SDR for almost a year with the settings at high with absolutely no issues. Basically bombproof memory as far as I can tell.

There are many positive reviews of the Mushkin to be found, but I think it is generally accepted that they make some of the best memory available. From what I have researched (as I am also making the transition to DDR) the only memory that gives Mushkin (high perf. modules) a run for the money is the Corsair XMS stuff.
