So I built my system a couple days ago, and everything was running smooth until today when I got multiple BSODs that said something about page fault in nonpaged area. I looked it up, and it seemed to be a RAM hardware issue.
This is my ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-409-_-Product
I ran memtest, and I immediately (before memory coverage even got to 1%) got a slew of errors. Since I have 2 x 2gb sticks I then decided to test them one at a time to determine which was the faulty stick. However, after 100% coverage on each singular stick of ram there were no errors at all.
I ran memtest 4.0, my mobo is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-198-_-Product
Not sure the rest of my system is relevant, but I have an x4 phenom 965, gtx 470, samsung 1tb hd, corsair 650W psu. My temps are fine; nothing is running hot.
I did OC my ram to 1600, as it came as stock 1333 (if you read the reviews almost everyone did, and the ram is labeled as 1600 anyway). I downclocked to 1333 before running memtest, and the problems prevailed.
Is there a problem with dual channeling? Should I try different slots? Or increase the voltage on my RAM? On the newegg specs it says 1.55v - 1.75v, and I think mine are running at 1.65v.
At the moment it's been somewhat possessed I feel; I've been swapping sticks of RAM around after downclocking back to 1333, sometimes there are no errors and my system runs fine... other times there are many errors on memtest and my system BSOD's. For example yesterday I was running 1333 in slots 3+4 and it was fine for the entire evening, but this morning I moved the RAM sticks to slots 1+2 (not sure why; I thought AMD mobos worked better when RAM was in the closer slots), and I got errors in memtest. Moved back to slots 3+4 and computer seems stable at the moment.
I think my RAM sucks? Or is it a problem with the motherboard?
