martn10, If you don't need the features on the E you don't have to use them - they can be disabled. So it all depends on your requirements, and, of course, on the price.

The main enhancements on the E is the Firewire and RAID. Some boards have Audio and LAN too.

After my experience I would strongly suggest that you just get the P4B533 or the E. As you can see from the previous post, there is no disadvantage, only benefits in the form of stable memory overclocking.

I haven't seen any substantive negative reports on these boards. In fact I think that the reason why there are relatively few reports on these boards is because everybody using them is happy.

It is only guys with problems (like myself) who spend a lot of time on these forums.

I think that I will also call it a day, though. I achieved more on the CPU overclocking than I expected (40% overclock) and far less on the memory. Maybe it balances out, who knows.

Latest: With BIOS 1004.014 the P4B533-V will do 3:4 memory ratio.

This makes the board much more attractive. I still have difficulty running memory at CL2, but I don't know whether this is a P4B533-V problem (others have also reported it) or whether it is just my Corsair XMS3000C2 stick. But I can now achieve much higher memory frequencies, so the CL2 is not that important any more.

IF you want to overclock like crazy with two sticks of 512mb installed martin10 I doubt it will happen. With 1gig of memory you will prob only be able to run at stock 166mhz speed.

for your own sake, get:

the P4B533-E
and 512/1025MB of SAMSUNG ram, as in SAMSUNG chips & SAMSUNG PCB.
the PC2700 is REALLY good stuff. i have had my two sticks of 512 up to 205Mhz and stable. you could spend the money on SAMSUNG PC3000 if you REALLY want to go that high.

definitely samsung ram sticks
definitely the P4B533-E and NOT the V

remember, search the forums for the P4 1.85 default voltage mod if you plan to overclock it and need more than 1.75v

Thanks a lot guys. Once all parts arrive, everything should go easier. Hopefully i can do something whith that.

Thanks again.
