Memory for OverClocking

DFI web site has a link to "Recommended Memory for overclocking".

Does that mean for overclocking the CPU, or for overclocking the Memory?

Cause if it is the CPU, I better stick to the list. But, if it is the memory, I'll be ok with a different kind I suppose. Right ? Cause I doubt I will try to overclock the memory.

It doesn't really matter. How fast are you trying to go? And what kind of memory? It would probably be a better idea to have all of us recommend you something.

I'll be shooting for 3 to 3.2 gz for the cpu

400 x 8 = ok
400*7 = bad

So, I would hate to go below 400 because I will use 800 memory at the least.

430 * 7 = ok but then I would have to try to overclock the memory, if I start with 800.

I would hope to start with 1.8 V memory because I won't have any other memory to get my first boot with and am not sure if the board would boot first time with the 2.1 volts and nobody on the DFI forum resoponded to my concerns about that.

The G.SKILL are on the "Recommended Memory for overclocking" list and the mushkin is not.
However, just a week ago or 2, no memory modules of 2gb size faster than 667 were listed and it seems only now have they updated with several after I pointed out that there were none with 800 speed or higher with that size on the list of recommended memory.

So, maybe the mushkin is alright too ? Would it possibly conflict with the motherboard?

These 3 types from G.SKILL are all about the same price.

G.SKILL 6400
F2-6400CL4D-4GBPK
Timing: 4-4-4-12
Voltage: 2.0V - 2.1V

G.SKILL 8000
F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ
Timing: 5-5-5-15
Voltage: 2.0V - 2.1V

Both of these below here have the low volts that I was hoping for... Do you think they could be overlocked just a little if neccessary?

Any good quality DDR2-800 is going to be fine. The Mushkin is a great choice.

Just to throw something different into the mix, I have 8Gb of Geil pc 6400 (800Mhz) and right now they are running @ 850 Mhz without a glitch. Got a good deal and couldn't be more happier.
