Memory for ivy - z77 ?

I keep reading different things that fast memory is very little performance gain.

I am going to be buying a z77 and IB cpu as soon as it is released and looking at memory now.

Would this be suitable? Do I need something faster since it ivy bridge?

Yes i want 16 because running several VM and would like that breathing room.

But is there a huge difference between DDR 2133 and DDR 1600 in terms of performance?

Last time I did a investigation of memory price/performance I concluded the sweet spot was 1600/CAS 9. Of course I was looking at the benches that were important to me and I'm not a gamer so you mileage may vary.

Out of stock now but I've heard great things about this ram, bought 2 pairs for my own build waiting on the CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820147096. It's the first 30nm DDR3 ram available, runs at 1.35 V. They are tiny too! It's like 1/3 the size of a regular DD3 stick. At first I thought it was the wrong type when I saw it! Reviews say it easily overclocks > DDR-2000.

This! I just got mine last night. running 2133 9-10-10-24 1t at 1.5v

Cheap, runs fast, no problems with a heat spreader running into things like your heatsink... You cant go wrong with these new Samsung 30nm chips.

Slightly offtopic, does anyone know if IBs iGPU will be bandwidth hungry the way Llano's is? I'm guessing no, all things considered, but it would be nice to know if that's something to watch for, particularly on laptops.

Its optimized to run with 1600Mhz DDR3. But no, not in the same way as Llano. The problem there is they slapped on a GPU for a discrete solution to IGP and no shared L3 like Sandy/Ivy got with the IGP.

No, 1.35V and 1.5V. Max before warranty runs out is 1.575V. Same as Sandy.
