I've just gotten in on the microcenter deal for the e8400. I had a question about memory. My hope is to achieve a 4.0ghz OC on this chip.
I saw in previous threads, some people are using ddr2 800 (pc2 6400) ram. While others say its best to use ddr2 1066 (pc2 8500) ram with this chip. Who do I go with?

ddr2 800 will allow u to OC your FSB up to 400mhz without overclocking the ram.
ddr2 1066 will allow u to oc your FSB up to 533 mhz without overclocking the ram.

lots of ram don't overclock well so its best to just buy the ones rated at the FSB u hope to OC your FSB to

Surprisingly a lot of the 1066 sticks tend to be OCed 800s :p But yeah if you want to hit 4ghz its going to be a lot easier with rated 1066 memory, might I ask why you need 4ghz? Most people here that hit that are enthusiasts/overclocking addicts :p Has no use for most games since the video card will be the bottleneck for the E8400 even at stock speeds.

Just like in our Ol'Rac'n days the faster & hotter you go the faster you BLOW or Shorten lifespan of system !!

Where as a nice smooth 3.6ghz OC won't even push the E8400 with xtra volts or temps..

Enjoy your puter & if your want'n to be a hottie, you might want to Google Overclocking E8400 sites ,, like extreme oc'n

Hope you have decent power supply & cpu cooler.. [as stock one is lacking]
Have fun & enjoy your new puter...
