Memory for e6600 Core 2?

Hi, I've recently bought an e6600 and was wondering whether buying memory such as the Ballistix ddr2 800 with 4-4-4-12 timings are worth buying and coupling it with an e6600. I do know that because of the e6600 has a higher multiplier and wondering whether that will allow someone like me to take a short cut and buy a little less expensive ram for the system.

As for the e6600 itself, it's a week 31 cpu and I've heard very good things about the latest weeks.

thanks. but i wanted a more direct answer as to whether buying expensive ram is worth looking for on a cpu that has one more multiplier that's unlocked compared to the e6400.

lol, ive already read those threads countless times actually

I've already got the Crucial 10th Memory. Contemplating whether or not to sell it for a bit cheaper ram.

If you don't need high priced memory then why bother keep it? Unless you think it could be put to use on your next upgrade. I say sell and buy cheaper 800 memory.

NO NO NO!

You can run LOW TIMINGS. Lower timings is always going to help regardless of Mhz. So if you don't run DDR2-1000 so what? Find me elpida, promos, infenion, or samsung 1GB stick that can do DDR2-800 2.2-2.3v 3-3-3-8

D9 can do low timings or high clock speed. In some cases you can do both. keep your 10th anniversary memory...hand picked D9GMH is over $430 now...and you got them in your hand. KEEP

Are you telling me that the Crucial 10th will allow very high FSB speeds on an e6600 as well? If that's the case, I can only imagine the sort of overclock I can get on my week 31 e6600 :D

haha, I guess that was all the advice I needed. I got it for close to $280 US over ebay.ca and thought that was a decent deal....they're selling for north of $400?! Why such a high spike in prices?!

Is it because they are not being sold anymore? Has Crucial really put these to bed?

They aren't sold anymore yes, but other memory that is D9GMH and handpicked is over $430. These sticks are some of the best you can get.

Corsair Dominator 8500C5D, 8888C4D etc., OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2, Mushkin Redline XMS28000, CellShock PC2-8000 cas4, Teamgroup PC2-8000

should be handpicked D9GMH but they are all well over $400.

Teamgroup PC2-8000 is not handpicked. The 6400C3 Teamgroup are. Also add Corsair 6400C3 as they are probably the best set of ram I have even had, including the 8888C4's.

They have a set that is out of stock right now that is cas3 800Mhz rated and cas4 1000Mhz rated (dual rated). That's what I was thinking about when I mentioned it. I should have been specific.

That would be WORST DECISION EVER!

Those Limited Edition babies were being sold for HALF what the competition was charging then. While it was rated for 667 @ 3-3-3, 800 @ 4-4-4 & 1000 @ 5-5-5 was almost guaranteed.

RAM like that still goes for $350-$450 these days. You bought those at $229, right? Well, keep it.

What's up in this thread, my limited edition 10th Anniversary buddies?

What I'd suggest is hitting up ebay and other places and see if you can find any more before they completely disappear off the face of the earth (even if you don't want the extra 2Gb you can sell them on for higher ;) ). You can't get them from crucial US, UK or EU any more and only one retailer in the UK seems to have any left.

Wow, seems like I found a diamond in the rough for the crucial 10th anniversary editions.

Ya, I can't seem to find them on newegg and absolutely nobody is selling them on ebay...guess they all keeping them cuz theyve proven time and time again that they can keep up with the best of em.
