memory for compaq V5305WM

My girlfriend just got one of those Walmart Compaq's recently on sale for $398. I want to help her upgrade the memory on it. All I found out is that it's a 333MHZ, DDR2 RAM. I have no idea beyond that, what type of memory to buy. Also, how do I know how many slots are free? I want her to have at least 1 gb of ram. So far, the laptop comes with 512 that is shared with the video.

So that's the $400 Wal-Mart laptop. Great deal and all, but I do now see why its $400. They're clearing out old tech...

Oh...one last question. Is there a difference between laptop and desktop memory? Will a 512 mb ddr PC2700 from a desktop fit into a laptop?
