The pillows are hit and miss. It does take some time to get used to the different design. But once you do give it an honest 30 day trial, you will likely really be pleased--especially if you are a side sleeper. However, many of them are poorly designed. The memory foam doesn't give much support if it is low density or if it is too warm (hot summer days for example). So it can go quite flat during those times. With the pillow I like best, it has a non-memory foam core to keep the shape and about 1.5" of memory foam around that core. With that combination it is the only pillow that has ever lasted me more than 6 months without any problems (most pillows go flat for me after a few months due to the way I sleep).
I've never tried a mattress but I'd imagine that I wouldn't like it. Memory foam really retains heat. I am almost always too hot while sleeping and that memory foam would just magnify the problem for me. I'm sure it would be quite comfortable other than the heat issue.
