Memory failed in Norton Diagnostic's Test

I've got an MSI Pro2a that has always failed the memory test in Norton Diag. since I bought the program a couple of months ago. So I bought another stick of PC133 Crucial 256mb(CAS2) and popped it in there by itself and it passed the test. Then I tried each of the old memory sticks(256mb Infineon PC133 CAS2, 128mb Crucial PC133 CAS2, 64mb PC100 MemoryMan CAS2) in each of the other 2 slots and everytime it failed the test. Do you think its the mobo slots or is Norton the issue?

Considering the price I'm thinking about just getting another 2 sticks of 256mb from Crucial and seeing what happens.

Just a thought. Maybe the other memory banks are 'shut off'.
I'd check the CMOS and look at the ram items.

No, I wouldn't think so, it recognizes the ram during POST. I'll check but the Pro2a doesn't have separate settings for each slot like the Pro2 did, if I remember corectly.

I have been researching memory and ran across this...it's a Norton error...got this from crucial.com FAQ site.

Solution:

If you have more than 256MB RAM installed, you will receive a memory failure message when you run Symantec's Norton Diagnostics. The problem is caused by a limitation of the test and does not mean that you have faulty RAM.

According to the Symantec Web site, "Norton Diagnostics cannot run a memory test on systems having more than 256MB of memory. This is a limitation of Norton Diagnostics and it is not a problem with your computer's RAM."

Symantec doesn't currently have a way to fix this problem, so your best course of action is just to ignore any error messages you receive.

Hey thanks a ton. Was getting worried it was mobo. Wouldn't have thought faulty memory would post and run well.

Maybe I can still use it as an excuse to my wife to get 2 more sticks, hehehehe.
