Memory errors?

First off, system specs:
P3 800EB
MSI-6309 mobo
512MB of RAM (PNY and Samsung sticks)
Gainward Gf4 Ti4200

When I try to install DirectX or some programs that use DirectX I all of a sudden get these errors that keep it from completeing. The messages read:

"The instruction at "0x77fc9906" referenced memory at "0x00230003". The memory could not be "written"." or variations of the hex addresses. I've swapped RAM with a known good Crucial stick and I've rotated the DIMM slot its been in. What could the problem be?

No, I'm running Win2k. Another odd thing, when I go to the DirectX info it says my version of DirectX is -1. What the hell??

Hmm, sorry then, I have no ideas that will probably help you. But, have you tried running the disk checker thing that's inside a partition's properties? Maybe something on there got corrupted. 😕

You could try using DirectX Buster to remove any DirectX components before trying a reinstall.

I Apologise for only having a link to a german version, I couldn't find an English one! EDIT - English one now!
