Memory dumps in W2K

I sometimes get blue-screen-complete-memory dumps in W2k. Running Abit Ka7-100 with 3HD on IDE's 1 and 2. Paging files are 574-700 on each HD.(384mg PC133 in system) Is this where the problem may lie? Happens after long periods of nonuse. Like, once I start to type in the morning when first using it. I leave my comp on 24/7 and run a server.

I have defraged numerous times and changed paging file many times upon advice from others. Still the same dumps. I also have it set up not to dump or debug in the settings.

There is 90% of the people here that are smarter than me, so help me out if you can. TIA

How long (hours, days) does it go before it blue screens on you?

It is never the same. Sometimes it'll go a couple weeks. Then, sometimes twice a day or so. It's not that bad, but the only thing I cannot figure out in W2K. Besides this, it is a rockin' OS!

Sorry it's not the solution but if you want to avoid the complete memory dump (which will take a few minutes if you have lots of memory), you can change the setting at My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Start and Recovery.

I have tried every setting imaginable in there. Pagefile set to all the different suggetions from the tweak sites as well as the regular sites. Any suggestions?

I don't know if this is directly related, but since I changed my BIOS CAS to RAS setting from 2 to 3, I have not had a drop out. Only been 2 days now. Still using 232 setting that I cannot notice a difference in what I am using.

Hell, I never thought of that. I did put in some marginal ram that was suppose to be Cas2, but I have my doubts. I'll try that.

I think I fixed it. This KA7-100 is picky as hell about the ram it uses and also the location in the DIMM slots. I had to take one of the three sticks out. Let's hope this will work.
