Memory deal?

Is this memory a good deal? Or should I stick with paying more money on the G Skill?

I'll most likely get a total of 8GB. This is being used in a MSI P55A-G55

It looks like both sets have the same timings, so the performance should be about the same. Save the money and go with patriot. A big plus would be if you have a comp usa in your area, in case you get a set of DOA sticks....
 
The 1.5v rating means that it doesn't need 1.65v slammed to it in order for it to run stable.
1.5v is the JEDEC DDR3 voltage standard.
Memory rated at less than that usually indicates better quality, memory rated at more than that usually indicates lesser quality.

So the memory that muskie32 was asking about is the best deal overall then?
 
$500 for 24Gb of 1.5v DDR3 really is not bad. That is half the price it was 6 months ago.

Am I wrong to believe three of these sticks would run tri-channel?
 
IMO... This G.Skill is the highest quality 8GB kit at Newegg, for the money.

the difference between the two that i see is (PC3 10666) vs (PC3 8500) and the case latency and timings. If in theory the 10666 is faster bandwidth, but the 8500 has lower (better?) latency and timings...which one over rules the other?

Between the DDR3-1066 CAS7 and DDR3-1333 CAS9, the DDR3-1066 has a shorter latency, but just barely. Does it matter? Not really. I'd go with the DDR3-1333.
 
I don't rely on timing ratings as a measure of performance, but rather an indicator of the underlying quality of the chips on the DIMM.
