Memory cooling?

OK, I know it's very important to keep a CPU cool with a fan, but now I'm reading about memory fans. Is it necessary to have a fan for DDR?

i'd think using some type of memory cooling device is warranted for OC'ers unless you want to be safe and run things cooler. Manufacturer's specs doesn't warrant active cooling.

i put heat spreaders on my ddr crucial 256 chip, mainly for looks though. not really any difference
