Memory Configuration Question

Could someone help with a memory configuration question? Would you receive better performance from;

512MB PC3200 in Dual Channel Mode (i.e. two 256 MB DIMMS)

-or-

768MB PC3200 NOT in Dual Channel Mode (i.e. 3 256 MB DIMMS)

-or-

1GB PC3200 NOT in Dual Channel Mode (i.e. (2) 256 MB DIMMS and (1) 512 MB DIMM)


I guess I'm just not sure how much of a realized performance bump you get from running in dual channel mode. My primary PC uses are for the web, programming, and digital photography, however I just bought a digital camcorder and am hoping to create DVDs of home movies.

Oh, my processor is an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton core.
