I have a Compaq Presario 4770 Pentium 233 computer that shows to hold a max 80 MB of 168-pin DIMM SDRAM, 66MHz CL=2. Crucial's site and Compaq both show the max at 80MB. Since it will accept 168 pin sticks would the system recognize a stick of 128 PC 100 or 133 if I installed that. Obviously I could just try and see but don't need to get stuck with it if it will not recognize it.
Thanks

I don't think the system would recognize the new RAM. It might report it as being only 80 MB, it might not boot up at all. Anyone with concrete details, please enlighten us.

I mean that the system wouldn't boot with a memmory chip exceeding the MBs memmory allotment.

Right, just referencing a typo in your original post. Otherwise, I understood what you meant.:)
