Does anyone know what is the best memory to use with my configurations?

I am using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and a 512MB of Kingston Hyper X PC3000

Should I buy the PC3200 Chips?

I tried some Corsair and it seemed to error when I added 2 more 512 chips.

Stick with Hyper X? If so, which is best? What Cas Letency, etc?
I need either a 512MB chip, or a pair.

Any info will be great!
Thanks

The HyperX PC3200 is great memory but there is one problem. Your motherboard (mines too) happens to be one of the few is not the only one that Kingston does not support full compatbility with. I even talked to the Tech Support guy a number of times and Kingston can only guarantee DDR333 (PC2700) speeds on that particular motherboard. The guy even said he was surprised it even worked at all. This is of course Im thinking due to the fact I have the latest revision/bios of the board and the memory was only a month old.

Im not saying it doesn't work at PC3200 but it doesnt run at the advertised speeds of 2-3-2-5 at stock voltage.

I have tried Corsair XMS and I didn't get any problems. But I never did check if it was running at the advertised speeds either. I do know the PC4000 HyperX I'm running is does work fine (which Im selling btw).

Hope that helps.

So what is the best memory for this board? I need a gig of something good, I can probably afford 512X 2 chips.

Brands that work the best??? Any deals going on?

Chill Nothing!
I need some Memory man!!!:)

I tried a pair of Corsair with the Hyper X and they didn't play well. SO I am looking to buy more of something that will play well, or sell what I have and buy new.

Keep the details coming!

I purchased the 2-3-3-6 timing one for $121. Heck, why not. I can always sell it off and get 2 X 1GB chips when I am ready

I've heard people have loads of trouble with ASUS A7N8X and Corsair memory - check out this link
Edit: OOOPS - I guess Corsair fixed that in recent models..

I tried 2 X 512 MB of the Corsair Value Ram at about $40 less and it didn't seem to work well. I got odd windows errors that I never had seen before.

So now I am on to test this. PS - I do some light overclocking so the little bit of extra cash will be worth it even if I can only tweak a slight bit ;)

If it works and doesn't give errors, I will be more than happy!!

I ran a set of Kingston 2x512MB HyperX PC3200 for over a year with my Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0, and before that I ran a set of Corsair 2x256MB TWINX512-3200LLPT. Both sets of RAM worked perfectly at 2-2-2-11.

I recently discovered, however, that my Corsair 2x256MB TWINX512-2700LLPT would error out in my A7N8X. I tried different RAM and that passed, so I thought it must've been an incompatibility issue since I knew the motherboard was good, and the RAM worked fine in other boards.

It turns out that Asus released a BIOS a while back that updated RAM compatibility for the A7N8X series boards. After flashing to the latest BIOS, I've had no more problems with the Corsair TWINX512-2700LLPT and the A7N8X.

Try updating to the latest BIOS before buying different RAM.

Don't forget that Corsair tests their RAM with Asus boards. I'm using two Asus motherboards right now and both have Corsair RAM in them running at their rated timings:

A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 + Corsair 2x256MB TWINX512-2700LLPT (2-2-2-11)
A8N-E 2.0 + Corsair 2x1GB TWINX2048-3200C2PT (2.5-3-3-11-1T)

I also recommend the XMS but let me warn you - the XMS will NOT work properly on that mobo with the default ram timing (I know because I have that mobo and two 512Mb Corsair XMS sticks).

You need to go to this page where Corsair lists the specific recommended timing for XMS memory for various mobos they've tested. I used the setting there and my system is rock solid now: http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/showthread.php?t=38150
