i have plans to build a system that includes a qx6700 and evga 680i motherboard.
as far as i understand, the qx6700 is unlocked both up and down, so are faster memory modules really necessary for overclocks? could i not simply change the multiplier?
the reason i'm asking is because shopping for memory can be tricky; do i go with the lower latencies or the higher fsb? where will i see the performance difference?
also, temperature issues. at what fsb do temperatures become dangerously high for the NB? i remember back in the days of the nf2's, i was scared to even get near 210mhz without scorching a finger on the NB heatsink.
thanks for any input.
