Memory choice for new platform - quantity?

I might be making the jump to an i5 or i7 soon. I have 8gb of DDR2 ram with my socket 775 system and it overclocks pretty good. What is the speed/quantity sweet spot for potentially overclocking an i7 860 for example? Thank you for any help.

DDR3 1600. You want to get the lowest voltage kit you can find at a reasonable price.

Those are good, yup.

I'd get two 2x2 GB kits as i like 8+ GB myself as well.
