memory card readers?

I would like to buy a memory card reader for fompact flash cards. Would it be best to just buy a device that will read all sorts of portable media? Is there any media that seems to be the most dominant?

Also, with a card reader, can you also write data to the disk? I'd like to be able to transfer pictures and stuff to my GF. Her digital camera takes compact flash.

What are some of the better readers available?

Anything SanDisk is worth your money, and yes, you can transfer photos back to the Compact Flash card, but your GF's camera may not be able to read it.

I've never experimented much with swapping CF cards with other people and with other cameras, so I can't give you a definite answer.

i have an imation flashgo reader/writer that runs off usb. it takes several flash card formats(compact flash, secure digital, memory stick, plus 1 or 2 others). if you can handle a few extra $, i'd get a reader/writer. i've found it very handy.
