memory bandwidth and latency on dothan performance

I was thinking that with dothans large low latency cache, memory bandwidth is not much of an issue, and that when (if) intel puts an ondie memory controller, it will not have nearly the performance increase of say axp to a64. Searched and found nothing.

More likely they could then decrease the amount of cache and make the chip more affordable for mainstream users.

The celeron M has 1MB of cache and is availible for 100 dollars I beleive. Not too sure though. Performance is very similar to a similarly clocked dothan.

Considering that a large part of the reason that they included such a large cache was to gain some of the benefits of an integrated memory controller, I'd say you're probably right.

No links though, sorry.
