I saw this too. Having trouble finding any reviews of it besides the two at Amazon. Anyone know of any reviews or have any comments about it?

great post! i've been looking for a cd-mp3 player with ID3 tags, at a REASOBLE price, and this looks like the one. The RCA one is still listed as $250 on thier website, even though it is still vaporware. I am looking for any reviews of this thing.. funny how no one seemed to know about this one

thanks for posting, this im really interested in getting two, but i want to know some stuff about this. anyone got this can post any negatives about it?

the lcd looks kinda small to fit text on it, i mean this thing has id3 tag support. does it say the title/artist? it doesnt have 2-3 second delay betweens song so ive heard, batteries last 4-5 hours?, maximum and minumum bit rate, im not sure about, but i imagine it does at least to 192k.44hz,

Do you have to burn the cd a certain way(for example, does it read cd's that are burned at 8x speeds, and do the cds all have to be same bit rate)is it safe to use rechargable batteries with this thing? and is it bulky, light, thin? ill ask more questions later, but please someone get some info.

i have the classic mp3 cd player which is similar to the memorex. As for the 2-3 sec delay betweem tracks, that still exists, it has trouble reading VBR but 192 bit works fine. The lcd scrolls the Title the artist and the album a little slow but it works. Good player i'd say but ive heard stories of the memorex being of worst quality then the classsic mp3cdplayer. I got the classic at Circuit City for 99.99.

I was seriously considering buying an mp3 cd portable player this month but have decided against it after reading the reviews for all the ones on the market.

If I were to buy one, I would have to go with the Philips Expanium ($199 MSRP).

Memorex's website doesn't even have specs on the model Amazon is selling and no warranty info either.

I read a few full blown reviews on the Philips model and the only problem I found was that the player couldn't produce even reasonably loud volume. Lack of ID3 support and/or backlit LCD are not problems for me.

I recommend for everyone to wait a few more months and see what else comes on the market. There are a few models which sound like they will sell well coming up from Aiwa, TDK, etc.

The main thing I wanted was a brand name (e.g. Philips) and warranty. Backlit LCDs drain batteries too fast and I don't care much for ID3 support .. I don't mind spending a an hour or two putting the track titles into a CD cover.

well.. i want one before christmas..and this seems decent, but i think it is too bulky!! i just checked out that classic mp3 cd player at cc, and when u compare it to everything else, it looks like a giant, and feels cheap. i want something heavy and compact like a minidisc or mp3 player, only problem is they cant hold nearly as much tracks as the mp3 cdplayers can. i have thousands of songs that i would want to listen to.

i saw the one from aiwa, looks like itll be expensive. havent seen one from tdk, ill check it out.

hopefully they will address issues of bulkiness among other things.

yeah, I know what you mean. I wanted one for my next quarter is college.

Ah well, all the reviews I've read so far say it would be best to wait a few months for more players to hit the market.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but your link has REFERRAL code in it for techb@rgains. I hope you didn't do it intentionally -- not cool.

it just like someone setup a website provide Mp3 files d/l, and what they do is link to other people's files without authorization and take their credits...u think that's right?...

Well, I saw the Memorex player there before techb@rgains ever heard about it. If I had posted my own referral link for that product it would have been removed.

I see your point however, don't agree with it. Basically you are saying if someone finds a hot deal, they can post a link w/ their own referral id to "take credit" which this board obviously does not allow.

Anyhow, I'm not a mod. I don't really care. Wasn't sure if you understood the rules so I pointed it out.

For user comments, go here, click on "Message Boards," then do a search on Memorex. Many comments about static sound problems, although also many satisfied owners.

Anyone know what "Complete Car Kit" means? Can I play this thing in my car with in dash CD? It doesn't say anything about an included FM radio transmitter.

<< Anyone know what "Complete Car Kit" means? >>

The complete car kit is more than likely a cassette insert with a wire attached. You insert the cassette piece into your cassette player and connect the wire to the output on your CD player. I've used a setup like this with my Aiwa CD player. It didn't sound too bad. It's probably not the best way to keep it connected on a permanent basis. But, if you were taking a 12-hour road trip in your car, this setup would be a blessing.

It would be nice to get a brand name, thats all. Its just the security of knowing they will fix the product prompty and at their cost. Small companies often hassle you.
