figured i'd update too... got (1) rejection letter and (1) pre-paid UPS shipping label last week. already mailed the drive out via UPS and trying to scramble to find a receipt for the other drive which was disposed a while ago.

i am rather annoyed -- the claim form said "enclose proof of purchase, valid proof includes the retail packaging, receipt, inserts from retail pkg" etc. well i included my inserts and the box (i still had it!) but didn't have the receipt, and so my claim was denied as they "cannot verify the date of your purchase without receipt".

why the hell did they even offer to consider claims WITHOUT a receipt if they were just going to deny us? losers.

Just got my replacement drive yesterday. It's a 40x12x48. Says "40MAXX" on the tray cover, how do I find out if it is a flashable Lite-On? The serial stickers only have Memorex on it.

TIA.

I got my receipt last week. I was lucky enough to find the person that I gave the drive to. He got a copy of the label on the back of the drive, and that is how I got the "sufficient information" to send the claim.... but they are annoying!!! :|

got my new 40x memorex cdrw last week. good stuff. still trying to find the receipt for the other one that I tossed years ago when i got particularly angry at it after 5+ bad discs in a row...

which reminds me... if any of you missed the original submission deadline but still have a receipt or drive, i have an outstanding "insufficient notification" that i still need to resolve, and i doubt i will be able to find my original receipt from 1997/98. so if you have the receipt, i can submit it, and we can split the $50. just pm or email me.

I finally got my drive, although it was definitely fair difficult and time consuming. Class action lawsuits like this are limited because 99% of the people with these drives don't ever hear about them and when they do most of them don't have the stuff to qualify.. plus this lawsuit took so long.. back when 2x cdrw drives were out they were worth a good $200.
