Memorex DVD+-R at Best Buy

I was talking about at Bestbuy.com. This thread is a week old so it isn't surprising that it is dead. Thanks for that link, I am going to pick it up. I am getting an 8x DVD writer for Christmas and I have been looking for some cheap DVDs (even if they are old 4x, and even if they are shiny on the top which I think looks really cheap because it gets finger prints on it).

Sorry about the "not looking hard" crack, I thought you meant 50 for $100 was the best price you could find anywhere! 😀

Actually, they are new 4X GO4's. I don't know how "old" 4x media can possibly be. They have only existed for a couple of months. Try to find 8x...

BTW, they have a matte finish which is perfect for writing on with a marker and do not show finger prints to much. Why are you touching the surface anyway?

I tend to touch the face of the disk every time I put them or take them out of the Case Logic wallets. Matte finish is a lot better than I though. I once bought a really cheap 50 pack of CD-Rs on they were just as shiny on both sides and of course got tons of finger prints on them. Worst of all they didn't come off so easily. Since then, I have always bought ones with a surface.

Boobers, you took my quote out of context. What I said still stands.

Memorex is a name brand with a toll-free number to call for replacement of defective media.

That is a simple statement of fact. I made no representations about the inherent "quality" of the Memorex name. In fact, I specified that the Memorex/CMC disks worked well in my burner so this is a good deal for me. If you don't like them, stick with your precious Riteks.

Try making a toll-free telephone call to "Ritek" to get a replacement for a defective disk.

Oh, BTW, "Yugo" hasn't been a brand name for many years. Just because they built crappy cars in the 80s doesn't mean they are still a "brand name" today. And I've never heard of a name brand called, "Dawoo", either.

Defective DVDs? How, exactly, do you get defectice DVDs replaced? How do you prove they were defective before you made a coster from it?

Have you ever actually got one replaced? Shipping both ways would cost more than disk, wouldn't it?

I've never had a defective Ritek disk, so I've never had to worry about replacing them.

BTW, IMHO some folks don't know what "name brand" means...
Check out the Daewoo "name brand".

Daewoo is electronics: TV's, VCR's and maybe DVD players.

They also made cars for a short time, but not sure who bought them out.

Well, Boobers, if it is a Memorex, you call the toll-free number, answer a few questions, and they send you a replacement.

Luckily, some name brand companies, like Memorex, for example, don't have quite the same rules as, say, a court of law. Apparently, they give you the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes, it pays to deal with a company who has a reasonably solid U.S. presence and a customer service staff.

And yes, seeing as you asked, I have had to get two replacement discs from Memorex, they were DVD-RW and just would not burn in my Toshiba SDR-5002. They didn't make me "prove" anything, but I suppose that the fact that I did not make coasters out of them would have been easy to prove; they had no information written to them.

I can't say for certain how much the postage would cost both ways, and I really don't care. They did not want the defective disks back, and they did not charge me for postage for the replacements.

It's a shame you've never had a bad Ritek disk replaced. I guess that means I can't pepper you with questions about exactly how you did it, what proof you submitted, and what the shipping costs were.

Personally, I have stacks of Ritek coasters, and there is no Ritek U.S. office to phone for free replacements that I know of. Still, I don't crap on every Ritek thread, because I am sure that they work well for many other folks with different burners.

Before you spout off about people who "don't know what "name brand" means...", I would suggest a spell checker. Daewoo is a brand name. Dawoo is not.

If you have any other questions, please send me a private message. This thread is starting to drift off topic just a bit.

I have a Memorex tv, it's actually a re-branded Zenith it's at least 13 years old and I have never had a problem with it 😉
