I don't live close to these places (about a 45min drive) and don't even get an ad for any of them except staples. I don't even know if staples will do a pm if I could somehow get a printout of the ad online (which I can't find of course). Any ideas?
Print this page and bring to Staples. Good luck

BTW, not mentioned in the add, but if you enter item# 20662285 at website it mentions "available in retail stores only." So this cannot be ordered on-line. B&M only.

all i did was call a local office max which had them in stock. then took the info to staples (phone #, sku # etc). worked no problems at all. they didnt even bother calling over there

this is a pretty decent deal. avg going price for dvd+r is about $1 each. this is a bit cheaper than that.

Ah crap, you guys are right. Memorex is using CMC now, I just checked an unopened spindle I got from amazon.com about a week ago and DVD Identifier identifies it as CMC. It has the pronounced lip at the top and the bottom of the spindle is black instead of the gray spindle the Ricoh's come in. Stupid amazon.com

Item# 20662285 is B&M only. As mentioned in the ad "Limited time offers. Not valid in other areas. Some store offers may not be available by phone order or online." So far the best $/GB for 4X DVD+R. Good luck. ;)

Are those the +R or the -R you're talking about?

So is that how we will be able to distinguish ricoh from cmc, gray bottom for ricoh and black for cmc? Can anyone verify this?

Same, PN 3202 5571, perhaps the UPC is different? The CMC is 034707 055711, although I think the black bottom / gray bottom contrast will probably be the the only way to tell them apart.

That should make it easy enough I think.

Any specific reason CMC's are crap? Compatibility?

Is It Me or Is It Memorex ??

I just purchased a 25 pack spindle of DVD+R with the grey case and it is Ricoh according to DVD Decryptor. I just tried one of the disks and now am a little worried. ( A little background, I have in the past done several hundred burns with TDK ( DVD-R) and several other makers ) I ran the program Kprobe on the disk and it showed a result on both PI and PO errors. The standard I use is 280 for PI and 32 for PO. The DVD+R resulted in 260 and 8. The results are just under the acceptable level for DVD's. The TDK discs as a rule never exceeded 160 to 180 PI and the PO is usually around 8. If I look at the phyical makeup of the disc, it looks like the coating has dripped over the sides of the discs. The TDK on the other hand, have a nice smooth outer edge. I have read various other posts and have come to believe that Ricoh is supposed to be an excellent media and I am all prepared to purchased several more spindles. I need to know if I am doing something wrong, or has Ricoh slipped in quality? Any info is appreciated.

Take Care

might be even cheaper @ CC:

59.99 (price on CC website)
-24.99 (officemax price)
---------
35.00
x 1.10
---------
38.50 (110% difference)

59.99 (price @ CC)
-38.50 (pricematch)
--------
$21.49 + tax

plus they show the grey bottoms on CC website, whereas staples shows black bottoms

g'luck!!!

The spindle of Ricohs I have is the same P/N and UPC. Sounds like the black base signifies CMC.

A lot of OM B&M has ran out of this.
Some of them promise new shipment but so far still zip.
If they have subs and you need one right away, just get it.
But the best deal right now is to PM it to either CC or Staples, it's OM loss for not having enough inventory.

One more reason to get Memorex 4X DVD+R (Ricoh) is that it can be burn at 8X if you have 8X Burner (Plextor).

Anyone get these from OD? They sell the grey bottom Memorex 25 pak. Normally $59.23 here

Not sure if they price match though.

They pricematch, but no extra 10% or 15%. So you'll have to pay $24.99+tax/spindle. PM'd with CC and paid $21.49+tax/spindle.

Some people have been getting Ricohs in the Imation +R spindle as well. No guarantee though. Heck, I just read a post at FW of a guy bought Imation -R and they were Riteks. That surprised me, I thought the -Rs were usually CMC.
