There were only 2 at the OM I went to this morning and I got one. :D

It's better than last week with the Mad Dog DVD-ROM/CD-RW for $14.99AR. All I got then was a rain check. It even rained today and the drives still weren't in stock. ;)

that's the same attitude i ran into (although i can't say that driving to 2 different stores looking for an advertised item "abuse" on my part). however, i'm content with the fact that all of us dealseekers can slowly bleed the company dry until they fire people like him who drove customers out of the stores in the first place.

I was able to pricematch the deal with CompUSA who had a couple dozen of these spindles.

Out the door, it was $25 + tax. And they print a "COMPUSA UNMATCHED" mail-in rebate form for $15 that goes to New Rochelle. So in the end this spindle will cost me some $11-12. Not bad :)

Went to two different OM's today. Both times they laughed at me and told me that they didn't have any in stock, ever!!! No rainchecks!!!

I dropped a note to the Minnesota attorney generals office just to be vindictive.

Crap...I looked at the ad last night and completely missed this. Was out around the opening time this morning too! :(

I may stop in tomorrow...but not much chance of getting this here! :(

Maybe a friend can check some of the "out of the way" stores...

Thanks MysticMan1! :)

I knew this was going to be trouble. I bought a spindle Saturday. I almost didn't see them. There were 4 on a top shelf with no shelf tag. I only saw the 4 spindles. What a bunch a turds. 4 spindles! As long as they will do a return/rebuy for me, I'll be happy. BTW, according to the dvd media reviews at dvdrhelp.com, the memorex 2.4x +RW could be either Infodisk (which some people have reported getting. Who the heck is Infodisk anyway??) or Ricoh. I'll open the spindle after I return and rebuy them and post here what they are.

That's what pisses me off about OM. They consistently do this. Anything that's worth a crap in their sales flyer is sold out within minutes because they never have any stock. My OM doesn't substitute or give rain checks either. Big waste of time for me.
(snip...)
I think I'm done with OM. Too much BS for what it's worth.

Sal

As I've been complaining on these forums for months, about OfficeMax mainly, and Staples less so. They've both greatly surpassed CompUSSR as the "bait-n-switch" retail champ.

Wow, so the BS isn't limited to my local store, sounds liek the whole chain has an attitude problem. Mind if I save a copy of this thread?

my store is really nice. although they didn't have this, I'm not going to complain, because they treat me well and normally have things in stock and accept coupons. don't want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs for a small $

I got a pack of these yesterday. I had stopped by OM for something else, picked up the flier, and couldn't believe the price on these +RWs. Fantastic price if you can find them!

BTW, there were several packs when I got there. I'm going to stop by a different OM on the way home today but I doubt they'll have them any more.

That's lucky. My OM was totally cleaned out of these when I got there at 11am. I guess the early bird gets the worm, but I can never drag myself out of bed early on a weekend.

They were also cleaned out of the FAR Khypermedia CD slim cases and the Mad Dog $10AR DVD-ROM drive which were the 2 other items I wanted to get. I found them online, but the RW's are what I really wanted.

Northwood, Ohio store received THREE spindles for this offer.
Now what's up with that?
Seems OfficeMax is back at it. Also no longer on website. Looking at the CompUSA deal now.

"Gofts That Work" is their motto..... yeah right.
In-store flyer, ussually a photocopy one pager, was pushing the Olympus c-720.
Deal at OM with coupons last week was $250.

Went into my local OM to buy the 25 DVD+RW spindle and to check out the HP camera/Printer combo for $150. I got there right after they opened to find a small crowd loitering by the DVDs. Come to find that while OM advertised the product they never got any in the store! Well, the manager took me over to their version of a kiosk and gave me a rain-check for a spindle at the $10 after rebate price! Hopefully they will come in.

On another interesting note when I went to check the camera/printer out I was told that they only had 6 combos available and they were all sold out (what a surprise!). Well, the manager was very helpful again. He had put together an even better combo (3.1 megapixel Kodak with an even better printer) for the same price. I was able to get the last one. I checked the prices of these units and the toal price (for the camera and printer) comes out over $300. I hope my wife likes it.

Was the replacement for the HP camera/printer combo that you recieved a "formal OM substitution" or something the manager just came up with. My two OMs in Madison, WI just continue to refuse to sub anything.

OK guys,
It seems that a lot of unhappy people are going the wrong way so you don't get your merchandise as expected.
The key here is to be patient, it might take a little time but you will get your products most of the time if you follow my instructions.
When a sale item is out of stock, please follow this order below to best get the product you are looking for:
1) Ask the associate to check at a nearby store then call to verify physical stock and ask to put on hold under your name. Drive over to the nearby store and pick it up on the same day. The hold is only for until closing that day, by rule.
2) If there is no nearby store, ask the associates to check stock of the delivery centers around local then all over the USA. Find the DC that has it then place the order. Keep in mind that orders below $50 total will be charged a $10 shipping fee. However, every thing is FREE SHIPPING until Dec. 19.
3) If the DC does not allow you to order the product and it comes up with an error or says can be purchase in store only, then ask for a raincheck. The rainchecks can be placed using the kiosh computers that should be in all store that carry electronics. The raincheck items are the sale price without the MIR included. Check to see what day they received their inventory that week. If you are buying something over $50, ask to talk to a manager to if he's willing to drive to another store to pick it up for you, provided that the items are sufficient values. Some times, the managers live by another store that has stock and drive a long distance to the store that they work in, and they will not mind picking it up for you.
4) Be patient during the holidays.

Merry XMAS and Happy New Year.

Does anyone have a copy of the rebate form? I can't find it in the OM rebate booklet, the product is not online any more, and it's not on the front page rebate center.

The Memorex DVD+RW spindle I bought contains INFODISC-A01-02 DVDs. Never heard of Infodisc before. There's is plenty of bad reviews of Infodisc CD-RWs at cdrfreaks and cdrlabs. I hope these DVD+RWs aren't as bad as their CDs.

EDIT - I backed up some data and burned a movie on my Lite-on 411S. So far no problems. DVD played back just fine in my standalone player (it took longer to "boot" than usual though). For 10 bux, I'm OK with them.
