One thing I like about them is that they're easily identifiable and known to be good quality. They're probably not kodak gold quality, but they do advertise having a longer shelf life . I also haven't had any trouble with them in any burners I've ever used. I have had a few problems in car cd players, but those are usually quirky. Really it's best to just find something that works and buy that regularly. Like I said, TY's are easily identifiable because they're the only ones made in Japan and they have that funky top-screw spindles. When I follow the link there is no picture and no description of what kind of cd-rs they are. Is this link the right one or do we have to go in store to verify?

Beware! Lately, not a lot of Memorex spindles have been TY (Made in Japan).

The 2"-diameter spindle-top is long gone, but with Memorex you can easily tell by the packaging. The MIJ spindles have a printed outer shrinkwrap. The MIT (Made in Taiwan) spindles have a clear outer shrinkwrap and the Memorex label is on cardboard inside the spindle cover. On the tall 100-spindles, that cardboard rises only to about 2/3 the height of the spindle. On the MIJ 100-spindles, the printed shrinkwrap is printed bottom to top.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Changing the title because as Steve0 pointed out, most Memorex these days are not TY anymore. I was at BB today and checked out their Memorex CDR stock and couldn't find a single spindle that says Made in Japan.
