so i just finished the movie...i thought it was pretty interesting...
but i want to straighten a few things out:
so lenny had the disease all along and the storys told about sammy jenkins were him the whole time? meaning he accientally killed his wife? or did the break in actually happen and thats why he has the problem...but his wife didnt die?
is teddy really a cop? in this case...lenny really did lie to himself just to give his life a purpose?
so lenny's friend (the g/f of the drug dealer) really did hate him and he was the one who gave her the black eye and she really was trying to fck him over?

it was kinda hard to follow since it was all backwards, lol

haha...yah i didnt know about it until after watching the prestige...i loved that movie so i got some movies by the writer/directer...he is very creative @_@ hard to follow

It's been a long time, but I thought the break in was real and his wife really did die. The guy that killed his wife was not him, just a guy with the same memory problem. I don't recall the rest, but Lenny didn't give the girl a black eye, but the girl was just using him. Hope that helps, I think I might need to rent that again sometime, twas a good flick.

Insomnia is one of my favorite movies. It's a great examination of guilt and deception. Williams and Pacino amazing in that movie.

Been many years since I seen it so I may be wrong:
Lenny did not kill his wife, someone broke in his house and did that. Lenny tried to save his wife but was hit and from that point on had memory loss/short term memory.
Teddy is a cop. Lenny couldn't remember if he got revenge on the guy who killed his wife or not, turns out he did (and killed others because he couldn't remember if he did or not).
Lenny's friend had her husband killed because of Lenny (because Lenny thought he was the guy who murdered his wife), so she wanted her revenge.

It's been a while since I watched it, but I liked it so much that I bought the special edition dvd (the one that has the hidden menu that actually plays the movie forward, instead of backward).

From what I remember, some guy tries to kill his wife. He intervenes and gets knocked against a mirror. This is when his short term memory stops functioning. The thing is, his wife survives that night. This is where the Sammy Jenkins story starts. He can't remember what happened in his own life after getting knocked into the mirror, so he uses the Sammy Jenkins story as a proxy to remember his own life after the accident. So, in reality, his wife did survive the attack and everything that happened to Sammy Jenkins (with the insulin shots and whatnot) is actually his life. Unfortunately, I don't remember what happens to his wife after that.

Teddy really is a cop. He helped Lenny catch the crook that "killed" his wife (the burned photo). But Lenny couldn't remember it, so Teddy concocted story after story so Lenny would continue hunting this guy.

As for his friend (Trinity from Matrix), I don't remember that story line at all. She was just screwing with Lenny's head.

I gotta watch this movie again. If I got something wrong, let me know.

If you watch closely the scene where Sammy Jankis is sitting in the home, a frame actually shows Leonard sitting in the chair.

The girl was taking advantage of Lenny

Lenny's wife survives the attack and it was actually lenny that kills her with teh insulin shots

Sammy was a real person except he was faking it. so he mixes his life and sammy's together to create teh story he tells.
