Dude, best job in nursing feild right now is a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Starting at $115k, in Upstate NY (which has a farily low Cost of Living), so its proly more like $150k in Chicago.

To get it you need a BSN, and then a 1 Year masters.

I was looking into it, but im not sure how much i would like that job, i might go into Pharmacology, or Checmial Engineering.

Well, any of what you cited as careers are good ones. And yeah, $115K is serious money! Only one additional year...heck. Go for it. You will be living large!

But post-Baby Boom, all of us are living in a crappier economic and (it could be argued) socio-political reality. What I hope to see is people from every generation own up and actually give a sh!t about future generations, make decisions in our daily lives that will lead to better circumstances for the future. That means avoiding trillion-dollar deficits, caring about susutainability of the environment beyond our own lifetimes, being there emotionally for children who are rightfully freaked-out at the mess previous generations have left for them.

The problem with that is that you're using common sense and responsibility. Common sense and responsibility have no place in present day America. It's all about ME, NOW, and "Who cares about the future, there's enough resources to last forever!".

The guy who says that he needs to raise taxes to pay off the deficit will be the guy that loses the election. The problem with a democracy is that when the average voter is stupid, he'll elect stupid leaders. Look at the people in Washington DC that re-elected Marion Barry.

What you're saying is the truth but sadly the truth has left American politics. Now it's all about the good-looking guy that says, "I'm going to cut your taxes, and I'm going to increase spending on YOU!"

That is typical. I didn't land a professional-level career and start making serious money until I was 25 (four years OUT of college). You will change your major about four times in college, on average.

Stop worrying so much. Life is way toooo short to start stressing too much about this. Retain and value your youth WHILE YOU STILL HAVE IT. It will not last long.
^^
You and your friend are idiots if you already planned your lives out.
You have probably VERY little idea what the world is like. You haven't gone to college yet I would assume, you aren't really responsible for yourselves I would assume, and you probably don't really know what you want to do.
Planning now is stupid when so many things can and almost certainly will change.
Having motivation to better yourself and achieve things is good, but knowing what you want to do with your life at 17 or even 20 has NOTHING to do with that.

Live, experience, learn, enjoy.

im 17, and alot of my peers reflect those of a doomed generation. that means either we are going into a rut, or mass stupidity will be the end of all life on earth (or earth as a single peice).

I'm 17 too, and this generation is all about "bein a gangsta" or "bein eminem"? is that how you spell it? Anyway, at least some of you care and do want to have a life. I'm lucky because I am a violinist, and there aren't any classical musicians who don't care. My friends and I talk about this all the time, and we think that there are enough good people to make it through another generation.

i wouldnt say that our generation is totally doomed...I am 20 and while I do feel that i personally am not moving along as i would like to I am atleast going somewhere and working at going places. In general though I think our generation is rather bad..While we do have a lot of technology and advantages other generations didnt...social wise i think we are much more screwed up. Along with that is the amount of rules we have now..Listening to my dads stories about how was as a kid and in college its much diffrent...things are so much more uptight then before.

Anyway...at the rate of population growth of the world we are all screwed anyway
