The heads should be parked when the drive is turned off.
There shouldn't be any danger unless you exceed to specs for the drive ie: extreme G force, humidity/moisture, temp, etc.
 
That depends. Are you taping each and every one of them back into the anti-static bags that they originated from? If so, they will be fine. If not, they will all be paperweights long before you make it from your house to the bus station. The electronics on the bottom of hard drives are every bit as susceptible to damage from ESD* as are all other forms of electronics, such as motherboards, CPUs, DIMMs, et al.

*ESD= electrostatic discharge
+1. Just wrap them in an anti-static bag and then in a protective case / padding and that will be fine.
