The only level you cannot get by post count is Elite... which i would like to know exactly how one gets that. (Elite is given by the Gods (mods) if i can recall correctly.) I have been here for 5 years next month and i still cannot figure that out... nor have i ever gotten a Mod quote :(
Hi Lola!

Anyway, I heard from several Elites that you have to be here a little while and ALL your posts are supposed to be useful and productive.
Which is why we have some Leets with less than 5000 posts and some lifers with 60 thousand posts.

(Seriously though, I think knowing a mod might be a better way to get it. Some of those Elites are not nice and make lots of silly posts.)

Simply stating "FAQ FTW" is being a jackass. I specifically told you in my question that I looked and didn't see it. Maybe it if was more clearly written, but it's not. So instead of being a jackass you could have posted the actual link.

The Elite title is not earned through posts. It is generally awarded for being an especially helpful, upstanding person.

I believe you may be correct.

To be the next Elite with the title, just be a good poster, have faith in yourself and show some contribution towards the community.

Some ways to contribute to the community: Be a great debator, bring up smiles across the forums (welcoming new members, paying respects or praising someone for their great efforts), and most importantly, use common sense in what you post in these forums. And if the mods discover that they've done most of these things over time, then they just may have a chance.

Becoming the next Elite is not about how good you may think you are now, but it's how you been as a forum member that will either make you or break you.

Remember that the Elite Member custom title is not about just the quantity of your postings, but it's about the quality that you've put into your postings that really matters the most.

while that may be true, i've seen some elite members (i won't point out names) that have been considerably less then nice. some offensive even. so it's not all black and white. while certianly not the mods fault, it is a stain to the elite status.

When it's orange (lit up) it means that person is currently signed on, when it's blue (not lit up) it means they're not.

Also this is why people always say to add Anandtech Moderator to your "buddies" list so that on the left side of the page under "buddies" it'll show when they are signed on or off.

Though that's only for the kiddies trying to get away with stuff they know they shouldn't be doing.

No, it isn't. It allows you to PM a mod easily if needed.

We all have some bad days that we'd rather forget.

I agree completely... no one is perfect. This actually was pretty enlighening to learn about.
I was not sure how things were done.

I've noticed that, some who were Elites have changed for a while now.

So next to your name is the number of posts and your status. I've been looking for a list of them but I can't seem to find it under any of the FAQ's or Help. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

*edit Also, what are the requirements for each level?

When you reach "Lifer" status, you die.

WHAT YOU SAY! :Q
