Mel Gibson to make tv miniseries on the Holocaust.

For ABC, Gibson's Con Artist Productions is developing "Flory," based on the true-life love story of a Dutch Jew named Flory Van Beek and her non-Jewish boyfriend who sheltered her from the Nazis.

What is interesting is:
Gibson's father also is on the record denying that the Holocaust took place.

Also, Gibson is now shooting Apocalypto which will consist of all dialogue in ancient Mayan (with subtitles, I asssume). What is Apocalypto about? Its a mystery. It is known the movie is set about 500 years in the past. Some think it will show the European conquest of the Mayan empire as a good thing and some as a bad thing. Some believe the movie will focus on the Mayan calendars prediction that the end of days is almost here.

Who knew lovable Mel from the Lethal Weapon movies was such a wacky fellow?

While I think he went off the deep end, like Tom Cruise, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope it's a Schindler's List type series.

Wow.

I thought I've seen everything.

Then again, "Passion" wasn't particularly anti-semitic... it was simply a snuff film, produced by someone who is way too much into torture and suffering.

I hope they do it as an action flick, where an oppressed German soldier goes all "One-man army", pulls out his sword and charges into the crowd, cutting down the brutal Jewish threat with great flourishes of blood and limb-severing a la Braveheart 🙂

Tag line: "I got your holocaust right here, motherfvcker!" 🙂

hopefully you're being sarcastic, but reading your other posts, i have my doubts.

What does Gibson's father have anything to do with his planned miniseries? Loads of fathers disagree with their sons but it does not necessarily mean that the sons share their father's beliefs.

Unless of course, Gibson gets advice from his dad for this movie, then that's a cause for concern.

Of COURSE I'm being saracastic and facetious. How could anyone POSSIBLY suggest such a concept in any fashion other than tongue-in-cheek? Maybe BBond could, but that's only because he doesn't really care about human rights abuses unless they give him an opportunity to bash that imbecile George W. Bush.

They are both known antisemites and extreme christian fundamentalists. I am certainly not looking forward to it.

No they're not. Only his father is. That's why people always quote his father trying to paint Mel with the same brush.

" I am certainly not looking forward to it. "

Talk about prejudism

not to flame but i really think they are making too big a deal of the holocaust

sure ~6 million jews died but there have been far worse murders in history

i am not anti-semetic

I sure hope you have deep pockets because if Mel Gibson sees this post you'll be working all your life to pay off his swimming pool expences. You're a disgrace.

I am sure you'll report it to him... cheers - tell him a new york jew said "hi".

I'm not in the business of reporting, but why do you call him antisemite? You seem to throw that word around very easily.

Hehe, that was my impression also. The audience seemed to be excited. I wonder how many went home and bought whips.

I got a chuckle from it. 😀

Wouldn't be historically accurate or make a lot of sense, but that hasn't stopped Hollywood in the past. Write up a script and send it in! 😀

I remember reading some interviews.

As for why I throw the word around -> I've had bad experiences... so I am wary of it.

Agreed aweful flick.. we walked out.

BTW- what are these holocaust deniers basing thier denial on? Germans kept excellent records which sealed thier fate at nuremburg from my understanding. Only thing that the press and people often overlook is 14 million were slaughtred total, including professors, intelligentsia, gypsies, catholics, 6 million jews or anyone else who opposed the Reich. Read "rise and fall of third reich" it's all in there.
