Meh...IMO, this is a non-issue. He was right to call the reporter out.

Fuck political correctness.

It's getting so you can't make a disparaging remark about anyone without it being "insensitive." And yes, people say some very stupid things when they're drunk...doesn't maen they get a free pass for what they said, but it shouldn't be held against them for the rest of their lives either.

This is his first movie since the incident, it's a reasonable question. His response, IMO, makes him look like a bigger asshole than the original comments because he makes it clear that he was insincere in his apologies.

The reporter was an asshole, props for Mel for calling him out actually. Reporter should be fired for being such a douche. The interview is about your new movie but what the hell, I'm gonna dig into something that happened a long time in your past that was quite unpleasant, I hope you take it kindly.

The new movie came in well below what they thought it would. It was a good question. Do you think your actions in the past will and/or have caused your movies to not do well?

Same as asking Tom Cruze about his couch jumping, religion, etc... stuff. Many people will not see a movie due to crazy shit people do in real life.

Why does the media give a shit about what celebrities say? He could have called the guy a filthy beloved patriot and it wouldn't have phased my opinion of him as an actor... which is the only opinion that matters.

Yeah I don't really give a shit what he or any other actors have to say about anything.

Ahh maybe if you read the whole story there has been rumors of him being anti-semitic for a long time leading up to this, let alone his dad is a known anti-semitic

I don't really care. My grand mother for instance goes on about how the Jews are ruining this country and all I can do is laugh at her. It doesn't change the way how frequently I see Mel Gibson's movies which are all fiction anyway. Maybe if he was making propaganda movies like that fat slob Mike Moore, then maybe I would care.

I do not see a correlation between his personal beliefs and the characters he plays on screen.

Marlon Brando was a: ass hole; wack job; weird; pretentious; and thought of himself as a god. Yet he still was seen as one of the better actors of his century. It's only because the media wasn't that affluent to create some groupthink irrational consensus of him.

Wahh wahh, ATOT'ers crying over Mel Gibson.

You know all the left wing execs in Hollywood do the same thing?

Try to find more important issues to be concerned about.

I like Mel Gibson. This was an ambush interview. This is just another conspiracy to try to sabotage his career by the politically correct crowd on the left. You know it, I know it, the market knows it.

People who don't see someone's movie because of something they did unrelated to that movie are morons, plain and simple. You go watch a movie because you think it's a good movie, not because the actor is the kindest person in the world or donated millions of dollars to charity. The reason why you shouldn't go watch a movie is because it's a piece of crap or bad acting, not because the guy was an alcoholic five years ago.

Ahh yea they do. Look how many people get turned off, or on, by a movie due to who is in it.
Many movies are made or busted by who is in it.

And there are many morons alive, that doesn't prove my statement wrong. Now, if they watch a movie with a good actor in it because he has a record of good acting, then they aren't morons. If they watch it because the actor is famous for being a nice guy and great a donating money or whatever to earn a good name, then they are a moron. Same for the other end of the spectrum.

ive watched both interviews and i dont blame mel at all for taking the stance that he did nor his retorts. he made a public apology, did his community service, what more do you want of the guy? he's just trying to build some promotion for his movie and these interviewers are poking the bear trying to elicit a response. and that ktla segment was even more pathetic considering the guy waited until he was in the comfort of the studio before he added in his two cents. he didnt look so tough when mel leaned in on him about if he's got a dog in the fight; but now he decides to get chippy when him and his co-anchor's are giving each other bro-hugs.

mel gibson sucks, but who the hell cares if he called someone an asshole?

if he had called him a lovely human jew great person or something, okay, but come the fuck on.

Who cares what actors say? They're mostly all wackjobs in some way shape or form. Only a sniveling whiny little bitch gets his/her feelings hurt over a couple of comments from a stupid actor.
