Was at Radio Shack yesterday and they had the Megatech r/c A7 Tornado jet plane on sale for $39.99 instead of their normal price of $70

LINKY

No idea how it flies/controls... but it sure looks cool for $40 for a ready-to-fly rc plane.

Any opinions?

I think I will reserve judgement til someone here posts some experience. I just read the reviews online and it seems like only half a dozen people have good things to say about it. At that price I would jump. I wonder when the sale is over? Today might be the last day?

Bumpity bump!

I think the sale is till early march

I didn't even notice the reviews at RS.com... I get the impression this is a poor choice for a first plane.

most reviews tell tales of getting 2 crashes before it's broken beyond repair.
A couple positive reviews, though.

I wouldnt touch it considering I have been having way too much fun with my $20 Wattage Mico Flyer. I havent had any luck with megatech. I bought two chopers and they both suck, hard to controll, and broke right away.

Now that you mentioned it and I pulled it out to look at I have to buy another one because I just broke the wing :(
But wth its 20 bucks and I now have an extra battery and parts for the new one :D

Wattage Mico Flyer is where it's at. I had it up so high that I lost radio control (300 feet ?) and it started gliding away! I had to run after it and wait till it descended to regain control!

I guess that answers that... FunBoy was hit by this A7 Tornado... the plane didn't break, but it knocked FunBoy out for 2 weeks.... is that really worth $40???

I'd go for a Toys-R-us Aero Ace, or if you can get one, one of the all-EPP versions sold as X-twin. (Silverlit manufactures the X-twin, which Spinmaster rebrands as the Aero Ace). At 30$, they're a steal, and if you clip the wings they fly very well.
