I am well aware of the odds and buy one ticket a week and am still bitterly disappointed when I lose.

$790 million = $464.4 million cash prize = about $292.6 million after federal taxes.

I could live on that.

I don't normally buy lottery-ticket's of any kind but especially THIS kind due to substantially better odds of being struck and killed by a meteorite then of winning the jackpot. (roughly 1 in 250k vs 1 in nearly 14 million)

Certainly be nice to win it though! :)

Ive been buying lottery tickets since 1992. Havent won more than a few hundred and they got that all back, with interest, to power of a billion.

But hey, you cant win if you dont play!

protip: quick estimate for cash prize after fed taxes
multiple jackpot amount by .4

790 x .4 = $316M

close enough

If I won that much money, I would buy Anandtech and shut it down.

If I won that kind of money I'd start investing in community colleges and trade schools.
Cuz frankly America is going down the shitter.

fuck off man, I know I've promised this before.

....rather, I promised to unban casiotech and fleabag and PAB, and ban everyone else. Pretty much the best option.

Either that, or ban everyone except Mayne so he could make more than two posts per day...

So for $28million you could buy the jackpot. Any rules against that?

Your math is off, and its not possible to buy every combination: Can You Ever Guarantee A Mega Millions Win? (forbes.com)

Of course, another strategy would simply be to buy up every single ticket combination. That would cost $176 million. But you’d be guaranteed to win about $293 million after taxes. Good deal, right? But there’s one big hitch: “First, if it takes five seconds to fill out each card, you’d need almost 28 years just to mark the bubbles on the game tickets. You’d also use up the national supply of special lottery paper and lottery-machine printing ink well before all your tickets could be printed out.” (Also, if just one other person picked the winning number, you’d end up losing $30 million all told.)
