Wondering if anyone else had a similar problem.

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?p=3629126

In this post over there I saw a few other people that are having the same issue. It appears the screws that fit into the tension plate are built backwards. I have read multiple posts on the correct way to install the mega and am basically sure that this piece was mfg incorrectly.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and had prolima send them the correct part. I will update the thread once prolima responds to my email. Waiting 3 days now.....

I may call jabtech tomorrow if prolima ignores my third email....

Edit:

http://www.pureoverclock.com/images/review/cooling/prolimatech_megab/prolimatech_megab_13.jpg

The base looks exactly like this on my 1156 board and the pressure plate fits over it just fine. The problem I am having is the screws that fit into the pressure plate do not fit correctly into the pressure plate. If I put the screws in backwards into the plate they seem to fit fine..

I'm not seeing the issue? In the pic you have it looks fine. I have two megahalems btw. One in mine and one in my wife's computer.

Are you talking about this issue (scroll about half way)?

If you are, they say it is rare but theirs wasn't a Rev. B and they were working with 1366, not 1156. However, if your issue is the same/similar, maybe Prolimatech has troubles getting the hole size right in general...

This is probably because you installed one of the plates backwards.

Correct installation (vertically or horizontally) requires that you can form a "virtual" X with your eyes between the mounting holes if one were to draw an imaginary line from top left to bottom right corner and from top right to bottom left corner at a 45* angle. Like this:

Correct

Mountings Bracket hole orientation #1
\ /

CPU

/ \
Mountings Bracket hole orientation #2

You likely have one of these incorrect scenarios:

Incorrect

Mountings Bracket hole orientation #1
/ /

CPU

\ \
Mountings Bracket hole orientation #2

Incorrect

Mountings Bracket hole orientation #1
\ \

/ /
Mountings Bracket hole orientation #2

Let me know if this helps.

thx for the replies guys. Finally got a response from Minna over at Prolima. She acknowledged the issue and is sending me the correct plates. The plate with the two dimples that holds the hsf in place is the part that was manufactured incorrectly. They had corrected this issue very quickly in manufacturing so not very many went out bad.

If anyone sees this issue give them an email and they will send you a whole new mounting kit.

Cheers!

Let us know when the part arrives, and take pictures of the two of them. You're not the first who has posted on this issue.

I'm thinking about getting the Megahalems to cool my i7 930. I know the Megahalems comes with fan clips, but does it come with enough clips for 1 fan only or 2 fans?

Rev B - two fan clips. The original model had just one set. Easy to buy more, and if you want 38mm clips, those are available too.
