The short drum intro to Rush's "Digital Man".

When it comes to the drums, Neil Peart > *

Funny...I just put in Megadeth's "Capitol Punishment" album in my car on the way to work this morning. It is waiting for me right now too!

probably something from Primus would have to be one of my favourite beats... Larry's da shizn!t.

My fave Megadeth album is probably Countdown to Extinction though.. very nice sometimes.

i was very impressed by godsmacks frontman sully. i bought the godsmack changes dvd and there's about a 7 minute drum duo between sully and their regular drummer, it's amazing.

When I saw them in Buffalo with Metallica, Sully and the drummer had a 10-minute drum duel, and it blew my mind. I have to say, I think Sully is a btter drummer than Lars. His double bass speed was phenominal, and some of the grooves he played were just sick. That little duel was easily the best part of the concert, and probably the best part of any concert I've seen.

his work on glassjaw's album "worship and tribute" was seriously wicked. combined with the singer's "channeling mike patton" vocals, that was an amazing album.

godsmack sucks the fat donkey wiener, though.

right now i'm all about the drummer for as i lay dying. great double-bass work and truckloads of sheer musicality. also it's pretty clear he hasn't been edited up the ass like most drummers you hear these days.

Now that the "who's the best drummer" argument has begun (as I knew it would), I will say it again:

When it comes to the drums, Neil Peart of Rush > *

I really don't even see this as arguable.

edit: oh yeah, Megadeth is cool, Trust has a cool drum intro, Cryptic Writings is decent, but Rust in Peace is their best album by far, possibly the best in the history of heavy metal :)

What about Buddy Rich, Virgil Donati, Terry Bozzio, Mike Portnoy? I'd say they're all up there at the same level of Peart.

I'll give you Buddy Rich. The rest I would argue. Are they gifted lyricists too? :)

Awesome song.

The drum beat reminds me of Enter Sandman for some reason though.

That is all.

Best drum beat ever - When The Levee Breaks.

That is all.

I dunno...I'd say Queenruche's Spreading the Disease will give anything run for the money on drums.
Well, OK, except Pert(sp).

Hangar 18 > All other Megadeth songs, and most other songs by any band as well :)

Crush'em is my favorite "new" song.

By the way, a tip to Megadeth fans, the remasters of their old stuff(Rust in Peace, Countdown, So far..., etc) are really good.
