Bullshit. Megadeth > Metallica. After ...And Justice For All anyway.

KT

Fixed.

This. And Justice for All was an awesome album, but it signaled their decline, and the crap they put out afterwards, well, :vomit:

Eh, I don't know. The Black Album was still good, though very different. Load and Reload had like 2 good songs each, and a bunch of garbage. St. Anger was pure garbage. The latest album had some interesting ideas that didn't meld together well at all.

But yeah, going back and listening to Master of Puppets or something, and there's just some outstanding musicianship on top of a good metal album. Completely lacking in both departments in their last 2 albums really. Too bad.

Listened through Endgame again last night. I'm not totally sold on it being a GREAT album, but its definitely a very good effort. And it's not like there's much else good out in the genre these days to compare it to anyways.

One review:

Final verdict: This is an almost absurdly strong album. I don't know what made Dave Mustaine decide to get serious about playing extreme metal again, but between this and the forthcoming Slayer album, a mighty high bar has been set for younger bands. If they stripped Endgame down to nine tracks, omitting "The Hardest Part Of Letting Go...Sealed With A Kiss" and "Bodies," and moved "44 Minutes" deeper into the album (say, between "Headcrusher" and "How The Story Ends"), this would be the best Megadeth album since Rust In Peace. As it is, it's the best Megadeth album since Countdown To Extinction.

Although I liked that song Bodies.

I'll definitely be buying this on the 15th.

grabbed this 2 weeks ago...its great...saw them in concert 2 months ago

At least Megadeth has kept it hard. Metallica has gone completely pussified - I mean seriously, Careless Whisper? These guys going out on stage with skirts these days? They'll probably start crying on stage and singing whiney country covers next.

Are you somehow confusing Metallica with Seether?

I like both Metallica and Megadeth. I do think 80s Metallica was the only stuff that really lived up to their name, but I have liked plenty they've done since then (including a song or two from St. Anger). Megadeth didn't fall off until about the mid 90s, and while there's a lot to like about them, they've never been a band that I can listen to a ton.

I couldn't really tell, but listening to 1320 at least it doesn't sound like Megadeth fucked up the album fidelity (like Death Magnetic), so hopefully they haven't.

I'll get some hell for this, but my favorite Megadeth album is easily Cryptic Writings. "Use The Man", "Almost Honest", etc. I have the entire Megadeth collection and already pre-ordered their new CD.

I think you would catch hell if you had said Risk is your favorite! I personally go through phases on which CD is my favorite. To be honest, I even like several songs on Risk, just not as much as most everything else they have done.

Yep, and Mustaine co-wrote 4 songs on Kill Em All and 2 for RtL.

Exactly and after Burton died it was like Metallica forgot they even had a bass player in the band. Maybe they eliminated all of the bass as some sort of tribute to Cliff? Maybe Newstead sucked ass? I don't know, but I hated it, not to mention the songwriting overall went in the crapper.

The bass is actually pretty heavy on Death Magnetic.

Anyways, I'm glad to see another Megadeth album. United Abominations was pretty good.

Cryptic Writings is still one of my favorites though.

For those who want to hear it, they put the whole thing on their myspace page (I guess there is a use for that site)
