Just talked to my prof about the final I thought I bombed. He said that I'm in 'grade A territory' after he looked over my exam.

This means my cumulative GPA won't drop from 4.0--I'll still be able to graduate with a perfect GPA in one more semester (I'm actually splitting it into two part time semesters over winter and summer so its more or less a guarenteed breeze)

This means I might actually get accepted into the physics specialist program I'm applying for once they see that I'm a "dedicated student" (or at least that is the plan) even though my focus (CS) has absolutely nothing to do with physics.

mega w00tness 😀

i think he stated that his major is CS...either way a 4.0 in any major is a great accomplishment...i've seen plenty of engineers whine about how easy it is to get A's in liberal arts sort of classes and then can't even do so in their GE courses...

alot of engineers seem to have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to this kinda stuff...too bad engineering isn't even at the same level as what pre-med students need to go through to get into good medical schools. this is all IMHO of course (and no i wasn't pre-med) 🙂

anyways...props for your 4.0

What school is that you attend?

At most universities, it is nearly impossible to graduate with complete A's.. Many profs only give 1 or 2 A's for a whole class!

I would have had a 4.0 in computer engineering, if not for all the D's C's and B's I made in my college life so far.

I remember in high school I got a B+ in driver's ed. and then I got all A's up through the last semester of my senior year and I was like f@ack this i'm not gonna be validictorian anyways and I got more B's that semester than I had my entire life lol

what school? also, do you work? any tips?

lol Ah, dreams of a 4.0. 13 quarters later I don't care. I'm more or less stuck at a 3.4 because of my own mistakes and while I know that I'm capable of a 4.0, my own self-destructive habits will assert themselves in some fashion and I'll get anywhere from a 3.3 to a 3.9. Oy. Kudos to you!

Humber College (Toronto)

Not a great school or anything, but I still busted my ass. I'm nothing compared to someone at a real school eg Waterloo or MIT with a 4.0

Yeah I worked full time (and over time) for some semesters but quit my job because I couldn't take balancing both. I almost slipped my GPA when I was working. My advice to those who can avoid working while school: Don't work. Or work part time at very most.

Hopefully this is enough to make up for my poor high school performance when applying into physics. I don't have the proper science background but perhaps they will still take my ability to focus into consideration. I badly want in the physics program at UofToronto.

the class of 2004 at SUNY Stony Brook has 3 perfect 4.0's i think. i think all are biochem majors... i didn't believe it...!!!!!!!

the kids who knew what they wanted to do with their futures instead of thinking "OMFG COMP SCI IS SO COOL" avoided Stony like the plague. Then again, some of my friends still went there.....

Nice.

There's a girl in my class (yes, a girl in CS/Networking!) who would have a perfect 4.0 GPA, but for one course. 🙁

WOW! A girl in CS/Networking? I believe pics are required. 🙂

Congrats to the OP and your 4.0. Sit back and have a cold one.
