meeting someone you know from the net..

So this guy I've been talking to online for about three weeks wants to meet me next week in real life. We originally planned on having me visit him at his house, a 30min drive(not 30min city drive, but more like 30min blasting through interstate highway at 3AM) from here. If he acts like he is on the chat, it should go well, but I've never really had good result with meeting people from the net. Should I take a risk and meet or should I be conservative and avoid?..

How has your experience been with meeting people you met online in real life?

I've met, let's see..... well, a whole lot of people that I first met online (msot from car clubs), and the worst expeience I've ever had is basically indifference. I've never considered any of these people dangerous or frightening, but a couple of them jsut weren't really people that I'd stay friends with. Most of them are friends still, we hang out sometimes.

Rakkis is correct pick a public place, you never know what might happen.

only done it once ever.. and that was only becuase one of my freinds actually knew her in real life...

anyways.. to make a long story short, it wasnt good. people are a lot different online than they are in person.

Mixed results. I used to meet a lot more net friend than I do now. 1 out of 5 I could and did get laid on the first nite...oh well 🙂 you shouldn't know this 🙂

Actually I was planning on meeting him at his house. I guess I better tell him I'd be willing to do so only at a public place like Starbucks, park, library, etc

I have met several net-friends in real-life, and each time it was great 🙂. In fact, I met my girlfriend online (after a while we decided to meer IRL) 😉

You planned on meeting someone for the first time at their house, were you out of your mind? Are you looking to be a statistic

...or turn out bad chickendinner, either way, meeting in a public place is a must period.

It's really not that big of a deal... Most people are pretty normal.. lol

But yeah.. meet in a public place, going to his house.. sounds like a bad idea.. lol

I met this one girl a few years ago at her house (she was nuts for letting me do this), but it turned out well. We dated for a while, and we're still friends.. 😀 I met another girl as well, and we also dated briefly. We still talk, too...

Jerboy, I thought you were not single? (Not meaning to pry, I just consider it a minor ethical question because my g/f would "strenuously object" if I let her know that I was planning to meet some girl I was talking to online, even if it were perfectly innocent.. I think most significant others would tend to echo that sentiment.)

Possesive significant others might object it.

I agree with that. I mean, isn't everyone over that "everyone on the internet is a psycho killer" kick? I've met a few people (male and female) that I became acquainted with through boards or chat, and I've dated a couple of the males.

And, our own Hzl is one of the coolest girls I know, and she even proposed to me... Tigress 😉
