https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocynus_goliath

This large-toothed, highly predatory fish grows to a length of 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) and a weight of 50 kilograms (110 lb). Its teeth fit into distinct grooves along its jaws.

Diet
Hydrocynus goliath is a piscivore, feeding on any fish it can overpower, including smaller conspecifics.

When hunting, this fish uses the calmer eddies of the rapids to ambush its prey, using its keen sight to detect prey. When a target is noticed, the fish accelerates to chase it down.

Interaction with humans
A number of incidents have been reported in The Congo of this fish attacking humans.[6] This reputation, combined with its strength, has earned it an almost mythical status among anglers, and it has been called the "greatest freshwater gamefish in the world".

According to locals living near the river, the evil spirit "mbenga" would enter the fish and make it attack people.

This species featured in Jeremy Wade's documentary series River Monsters (Season 2, Episode 7 "Demon Fish"). Wade managed to catch the fish and planned to release it, but it died from swimming into rocks during the fight. In the special, Wade called this fish the "ultimate river monster" of all the fish he has caught filming for the series.

Jeez...welcome to the 1990's...(ok, maybe the 2000's) a couple of the "monster fish" shows highlighted this toothy pescado.

What's next? Is the OP going to introduce us to the creature known as bigfoot?

:p

That episode is older than 4 years old.

Jeremy Wade always catches and releases, but he ended up keeping that fish to feed the tribe that the guy helping him was from.

That dude is a really interesting dude and has lived a very cool life. I was sad to see his show end because that was one of my favorite shows.

There was a 2 hour episode on the Lochness Monster. It was interesting but pretty stupid, and it was more about trying to find an explanation for what people think the Lochness Monster is.

To me the Loch ness monster is close to impossible, with any creature it must have been part of a breeding population, there are no singular species in the wild. Same goes for bigfoot, at some point or another a corpse/skeleton would have been found but none ever has.

Yeah River Monsters was good. Sure it suffered from padding and some melodrama (although he would downplay real drama sometimes but usually kept pretty even keel giving it proper weight) and other crap (some of the sillier myth episodes), but there was some awesome footage on there. Jeremy Wade seems really cool and I like his approach, he takes scientific approach, but extrapolates from myth and heresay in a non-insulting manner. I'm not even into fishing but I went out of my way to tell people about that show back when I first saw it on Netflix like 5 years ago.

I don't recall what show or who the presenter was but I remember watching some show where the guy was going round snakes. He crawled into a cave that was used by like dozens and dozens of hibernating rattlesnakes, through a small cave he had to crawl on his belly to get through, and he'd have no room to get away if snakes were coming or going while he was. And he went up on a mesa and found this huge rattlesnake (was like 6-8 feet long and bigger around than his leg) that was hanging out under and overhang by a cliff. He goes over and starts working on getting the snake out, with his back to the cliff (and he has little room, just a slip and he's over the cliff, or if the snake decided to just wiggle it could send him over). He managed to do it, the snake didn't seem happy but was wasn't especially angry.

Some of these guys just seem extra crazy.

Seems like people explain that by saying there's underwater caves that link to the Atlantic Ocean. Which I don't believe any of that crap (and Lochness Monster I think is a proven hoax, just like the one bigfoot footage).

I honestly kinda hate that stuff or the people that super believe in it, but it can be oddly fascinating and entertaining depending. It can very quickly go from fun to stupidly annoying (the ghost hunter shows are all annoying, and most of the bigfoot ones too). I did like watching Monster Quest, mostly because the narration was just the right tone and they had legit science on it (even if they gave a bit too much credence by saying it didn't truly rule anything out. Plus some of it was extra stupid (like when they made the show, pretty sure they already knew the one Bigfoot footage was a hoax, but they had some "sports scientist" claiming that no human could possibly walk like that, let alone in a costume, because they had some athletes try to and supposedly they weren't able to, its like well you know its a hoax, so how the fuck can you say its not possible?).

He was holding that thing and it looked pretty docile. I've caught bluegill that were only 3-4 inches long that wouldn't stay that still....maybe it's the size of the fish that explains why it was moving so slow.

That is pretty stupid. I can give you an explanation for what the Lochness Monster is...but if you want it, I need about tree fiddy.

"Francis"?, I was simply replying as to the ferocity of this animal. Maybe you felt slighted over the stupidity of your post, I didn't take it seriously.
I think you two should kiss and make up. Well, at least kiss. ;)
