After being petless since putting down my beloved Moose last October...we brought home a new fur kid today.

8 week old standard poodle. Haven't named him yet, so it's still "puppy," but soon...

EDIT: Because of his blue eyes in that pic, (they're changing to amber as he gets older) we named him Frank...after "Old blue eyes."

Doesn't look like any standard poodle I've laid eyes on before. He's WAYYY too cute and healthy compared to the skinny poodles I've often seen.

Hmmm...those lovely eyes. I'm envisioning Jennifer Garner calling him Matt or Mattey or Mattie with that sweet mouth and jaws of hers 🙂

Hey’s got a pecker…so not a her. 😛

He IS skinny-ish. You can feel all his ribs. (Thick coat of hair) He came from a litter of 8 puppies. Got to meet both momma and dad…so, yes, he’s a poodle.
(I dislike the foofy poodle cuts that are really only for shows.)

NICE!! My daughter's dog is a standard poodle and she is a wonderful dog! As she just said "I don't think Millie is capable of being mad" This is Millie with a buzz cut. No poodle cut for her this time.

She's gorgeous. My boy's momma was a parti poodle. (maybe that explains why she has so many pups of different colors...black, brown, cream white, black/white parti...she is just a parti girl!) 😛
 
I am a firm believer in “if you have one dog you have two”. Especially puppies. They play together and when they are tired out then you get all the puppy love.
 
Fckn dogs...first off, Frank has had diarrhea for a week...possibly the change in food...the breeder sent us home with a container of "Purina puppy chow," which is what she said the puppies have been eating...but when I went to buy more to keep mixing with the new puppy food...turns out, it was just Purina Dog Chow...when I asked her about it..."Oh...I was out of their puppy food, so I just sent you with some of that since they've eaten it occasionally." 🙄 I've had him on rice and boiled chicken...mixed with a bit of canned pumpkin...trying to get things worked out...early this morning..."hershey squirts." 1723089736004.png He's been on the cancellation list at the local vet...no luck...so I called one of the vets in a neighboring town...they were able to work him in for a quick exam and stool sample. Before we left, he pooped the best turd he's pooped since we got him...but I still took him to the vet for a checkup. Of course, they found nothing wrong...no worms or other parasites, no unexpected bacteria...so I got to shell out $165...just to meet his new vet.
Anyway, things are getting back to normal <knock on wood> in that department..

After we got home, I took him into the back yard to play ball...after being cooped up in the truck all afternoon...I bent over to pick up the ball...threw my fckn back out. 🤬
 
With the vet prescribed probiotics not working, out of sheer desperation, I picked up package of this at the local drug store:

To my great surprise…the stuff works. The first day, his “stuff” went from “mustard yellow pudding” to soft brown turds…and it’s gotten better and better. Still softer than I’d like…difficult to pick up…but MUCH better than it was.
