Meet PFC Jeffery

So yesterday I took the ASVAB (93/99!), and today went through MEPS (barely passed, phew). I was sworn in for 6+2 into the Army Reserve as an E-3.

Now to go drink something.

oops, 88N (Transportation Management Coordinator)

My options were very limited as I am colorblind (only 5 jobs available in the entire state, and the unit I am now in is 2 hours away), so that's what I ended up with.

Edit: Someone in Madison owes me a beer in mid-February when I hit 21🙂

Many thanks for your service and welcome to the brotherhood. 😉

Just remember: Drill Instructors love it when you make fun of their hats. Try it out and see. 😛

Seriously though, allow me to extend a hearty "thank you" from an American citizen not (yet) in the armed forces.

Thanks for serving and keep your eyes peeled.

Also, keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

🙂

Congrats! I also went in as an E-3 and was going to be promoted to E-4 after tech school (got a BS degree). Got discharged while in basic for developing asthma. 99 in the ASVAB 🙂

Welcome to the club. I came in as an O-1 (EE degree) in the Air Force but we all get the same great MEPS treatment. Doesn't the MEPS have the best customer service ever? It does give you a good wake up call as to what you're getting into. Boot camp and tech school will be the worst and greatest times of your life and you'll make some very good friends there. Congrats on your scores...now is one of those times when the public likes the military which is nice. But I'm sure that will change again eventually...it always does.

Thanks. Luckily, I have 5 months to get into shape for BT. Yeah, the MEPS service is terrible. It took a hair under 12 hours to go through MEPS, and at one point I waited and watched the enture movie Bruce Almighty, plus 4/5 of Robinson Coruso (sp?).

Hurry up and WAIT!

On another note, my stomach hurts from sucking it in all day.

See son, in the Marine Corps your stomach would be sore from the HOURS OF GRUELING PHYSICAL TRAINING and from SUCKING IT UP. Not from sucking it in.

/another obgligatory Marine Corps comparison. 😉

Good luck out there.

On the other hand, brutuskend, a LCpl in the Corps has the responsibility of a Sgt in the Army. Our promotions take longer because they have more responsibility attached to them. Smaller force = fewer people doing more. That still doesnt make up for the fact that in the Corps you're not taking home E3 pay, though.
