So sacrilegious. 🙁 I mean look at this thing. Pure beauty.

Looks slimy.

I wish I could order some of that stuff; so much great looking meat online. I ordered steaks for my secret santa and I so wanted to order a bunch for myself too. 🙁

Wagyu. Kurobuta. Poor imitations of Japanese meats that don't exist in America.

"poor" my ass

The Japanese meats can be found in America. The Wagyu cattle found in the US is the exact same beef, by species, as Kobe - the doctrine of how to raise those cattle in the way that the Japanese obtain such fine beef, was not part of the recent permission to raise the cattle here in the States.

You'd cook Kobe Well Done, wouldn't you?

Your trolling is bad and you should feel bad.

http://www.costco.com/Japanese-Wagyu-Ribeye-A-5-Grade.product.100082950.html Its only $137/lb. The marbling on it.. good god.

You'd never cook wagyu at all because you'd never get your hands on it.

Who the fuck cares what I can or cannot afford to buy and eat? That's not the discussion at all. Your ignorance of all things beef, overly aggressive and condescending tone, and utter failure at life are what's up for discussion, and pretty much guarantee to me you are either 13 (perhaps 16... that's pushing the realm of possibility though) or a troll without enough material trying too hard.

Troll harder.

edit: :hmm:
Ns1 caught that as availability, whereas I caught it as an attempt at a personal attack.
I gotta say, I don't expect it's about availability. It would fit the ignorance, considering Wagyu is especially easy to find, even here in Ohio, if one knows how to shop around and find it. Sure, it's not at every corner grocer or meat store - but it's to be found at multiple shops in town.
Hell, you can order it online through Costco and you get it in a refrigerated package, fresh. Pretty damn easy, AND convenient, if you ask me. Can't beat that unless you have a live specimen and a butcher handy. Which you'd have to freeze if you had all that beef and that's just not quite the same. 🙁

For someone who thinks I'm trolling, you sure do make some long-winded, angry retorts.

Yeah, I'm not taking sides as I haven't read the entire thread (rarely care to) but it did sound like someone's pimple's had since cleared up but the inner hurt inside hadn't.

No offense destrekor. 😉

All raw meat is slimy.

I've never eaten slimy beef. I assume you're buying beef from the markdown isle at Walmart, that's not a good idea.
Steak should always be cooked medium rare, if you only like it well done then don't bother buying steak. Get some cheap ground animal meat from China and make a nice meatloaf. Cook until the crust is rock hard, the inside desiccated, and cover it with ketchup. You'll enjoy it more and it will cost only penny's. This will keep in the refrigerator for a couple weeks if you cook it long enough.

How many people truly cook their steak medium rare? And do it consistently. Restaurants screw it up so often that what they claim is medium rare is often rare or medium. Home cooks struggle even more. People have hard time boiling eggs. You expect them to correctly cook a steak medium rare?

I bet most people eat their steak rare, medium, or medium well and think they're eating medium rare steak.

Like the guy a few days ago who made a sous vide thread, but increased the temperature to save time. WTF?

Had fajitas tonight made with flank steak I cooked for 7 hours sous vide medium rare. Tender, flavorful and not slimy.

I can't personally understand how anyone eats beef cooked less than medium well. And I absolutely prefer well done. Unfortunately so few people seem to have figured out that you can cook a perfectly well done burger, no pink, and still have it be juicy. So I've had to start ordering medium well to avoid getting burgers too dry. If I cook you a burger you're gonna get a burger with no pink but still one of the juiciest burgers you've had. I don't want my meat still bleeding.

All starts with the fat content. My fiance likes a well-done burger and I have to agree with you in that so few restaurants make it well-done without drying it out.

I prefer right between medium rare and medium, at least in what I've ordered from restaurants. (I usually cook my own) Most places medium rare is more rare to me and medium is overcooked. Just my preference. That's for quality steaks, the cheap stuff I prefer medium.
