System Reqs for the curious, from Total War website. Not very steep, are they? I wonder how the game will play on such a system. The screenshots are very good, but I'd imagine those were taken on a more ideal system.

English version of Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP.
Celeron 1.8GHz Pentium 4® (1500MHz) or equivalent AMD® processor.
512MB RAM.
8x Speed DVD-ROM drive (1200KB/sec sustained transfer rate) and latest drivers.
11.0 Gigs of uncompressed free hard disk space.
100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound card and latest drivers.
100% Windows® 2000/XP compatible mouse, keyboard and latest drivers.
DirectX® 9.0c.
128MB Hardware Accelerated video card with Shader 1 support and the latest drivers.
Must be 100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible.
Monitor must be able to display 1024x768 resolution or above

No way are those realistic requirements. Rome: TW would play like crap on those specs, even at 1024x768.

My guess is this would be more realistic:

2.0GHz A64/C2D processor or faster
256MB video card, 6800GT/X800XT or faster
1GB RAM

Those are minimum specs. The ones you guessed would probably be recommended.

Hate to tell you this, but I posted the sale in Hot Deals about 6 days ago. It is over now though, it went from the 21st to to the 23rd, it was $24.99 and with a gamers card it came to $21 and some change for some people...

It is a great game.

Futureshop has the Total War Eras and Medieval War 1+2 on 'sale' for $50 down from $90. I've only tried the demos, were pretty good. Is this worth it or should I go for the Splinter Cell Collector's sale (all including double agent)?

I may be biased, but I'd go with Total War over Splinter Cell any day of the week.

There are some great mods out, like UltimateAI, which make the game much better and far more challenging. Once you try these mods, you'll realize just how crappy the default scripting is.

Impressive game!

If anyone figures out how to get the multiplayer online gaming to work, would you please post "how to do it?"

I don't want to host, but only to play in multiplayer mode.

I opened up 10 router ports in accordance with the Moderator's post at the bottom of this, but still am unable to connect.
