The states can legislate all they want, the federal government will still enforce the ban.

No they won't, that's the point. The vast majority of low level drug arrests are done by local cops. The local cops won't enforce federal law (as far as I know), so the federal agencies will have to do it. And they don't have the manpower.

Quite true. The feds just dont have the man power, and with (at least in California) the DA saying they wont be making arrests, i dont think they can enforce the ban.

I got to say i love how people who have never tryed pot, love to preach how bad it is. Heres a question, what is wrong with pot? It does not impair driving (unless a roar was used), and after people smoke, its not like they are going to go out and get in a fight. It is safer, more relaxing, and can be used in the stead of pain killers, where as alcohol can not.

Pot is here to stay, and i just shake my head and laugh at people who think otherwise.

Then why hasd nothing happened in calif?

Something has happened:

http://fullcoverage.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050625/us_nm/crime_marijuana_dc

They arrested 15 people linked to three San Francisco pot clubs and seized more than 9,000 marijuana plants with a street value estimated at $5 million in the raids, linked to what they described as a probe of international drug trafficking and money laundering.

They said the timing of the raids in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision earlier this month was a coincidence.

"We've been investigating for two years," said DEA Agent Javier Pena, the San Francisco agent in charge of the probe. "It's a group of major narcotic traffickers. ... We are expecting further arrests and seizures."

Not just because of the SC decision, but because of state laws conflicting with federal laws. These raids are nothing new.

I think weed should be legal, especially for medical uses, but I don't agree with a state defying the Supreme Court. We have this system of government for a reason and states cannot and should not defy the federal government, especially once the high court rules on an issue. The FBI is going to take these people down very very soon.

I smoke occasionally, and think it should be legal with certain restrictions. This is an issue of state vs. federal rights, not simply just an issue over marijuana.

On the actual marijuana aspect of it though, people who blatantly disrespect the law and get busted need to take responsibility for themselves. Don't blame the government because you knowingly and willingly broke the law.

Correct. It's the same reason local PD will not deport illegal aliens. This is why the law was passed after the ruling RI is giving the fed the big FU.

Actually, it's the federal government who is defying the original intent of the Constitution. Originally, the federal government was supposed to be weak while the states were the ones with the power. But due to the way the government was laid out, over time the fed gov began taking away power (because they could) that the states once had.

I'm not admitting to using drugs or anything, but everytime I smoked pot I'd get blitzed off my a$$ and I couldn't drive. Alcohol, on the other hand doesn't impair me like pot does.

maybe your a newb..

the only time you would get messed up is when you take like 10 hits from a bleezy

Ed Rosenthal is his name, you obviously haven't heard...

BTW, several clubs in SF were raided by Federal agents for not paying back taxes, etc. You apparently don't know too much about the subject if you think nobody is being arrested by feds. 27 arrests so far and more coming, actually.

Last time that happened, a few million people died and the outcome was decided in favor of 'federal rights'.

This has nothing to do with the end user. Also the reposts say they were under investigation for over 2 years. This is not a NEW thing.

Since when has the federal government cut funding for states that have legalized medical mary j? Or maybe I missed that.

Your grammar and spelling are the reason people think that marijuana smokers are so ignorant. Who the heck doesn't know how to spell Roor? Come on man, it's common pothead sense!
