I usually run Windows Media Player 6.4 in XP because I hate WMP 8. All the sudden I was trying to play a movie clip (DivX or SVCD) and it began to run extremely slow/choppy and if I Maximize the clip it becomes really pixelated (never did before). Here are the things I have tried to get it to work, unsuccessfully

- Reboot my machine and use RAM cleaner Program
- Install newest drivers for my video card
- Install DivX 5.01

Nothing has worked, except when I run the clips through the DivX Playa they work in normal speed (when windowed, not full screen). Any ideas??????? Possibly Hardware malfunction????? Thanks

Why don't you try the Winamp8 that you don't like so much. To my knowledge, that version is meant for WinXP.

Why don't you like it? If it's the looks you can always change it back to "classic" look by choosing the skin

tried WMP 8 with the same results, the reason I use 6.4 is because it opens quicker and is a smaller size app (so it takes up less MEM and CPU when running) Any other suggestions?

try changing your resolution or lowering refreshing rates.

the most likely culprit is 32bit resolution. try changing it to 16 bit. i had this exact same problem on my old computer. in 32bit, full screen became pixelized and slow and playback was choppy. but 16bit solved it.

have you tried installing a divx codec besides 5.01? try 4.12 or 3.11a (unless you are trying to play divx5 movies, in which case my suggestion can be thrown out the window)
